Food for thought
Hungry Ghosts Festival Ritual
At first it seemed like this was an article on a local phenomenon, but as we began to share our thoughts we realized that we were actually talking about at least three very important conceptual frames: 1) the nature of urban spaces in non European contexts - where every street corner has a shrine or a grave commemorating a rupture with the past 2) the role of memory, fantasy and imaginative in shaping cultural practices that have a significant bearing on political and economic practices. Subsequent selection of readings is influenced by these insights. Incidetally, if you have never seen it try clicking here.
Watch this blog. Make time to stop by. We will be posting regularly and we hope to see Rowell Reading Group grow. :)
